Intertwined

Inspired by the sculpture "The kiss" by Constantin Brancusi, "Intertwined" aims to be a modern and abstract twist on the idea of the two intertwined lovers, the perfect pair, also known as soul-mates, a term which refers to two people that complete each-other perfectly.

Sculpted completely using extrusion along pathways, this piece skims on the delicate nature of compatibility in today’s world. It’s a symbolic artwork, paying homage to emblematic Romanian artists, such as the sculptor Constantin Brancusi and the poet Mihai Eminescu, who specialised in romantic poetry, a lot of his texts circling around the ideality of love.

It also reminds me of the meaning behind the term symbolism, derived from the Latin symbolum: ,,something from the ancient world, used to describe a token, for example a clay seal that could be broken in half, and when put back together it confirmed a relationship,” - Edward Sri. Basically, a Sybolon is the coinciding fragments of the whole, a sign of recognition, a fragment that used to be part of the whole and is now looking for his soul mate.
