Serotonin Explosion

This animation is the result of a bit of research I conducted in the world of medicine and specifically into what chemical reactions take place in the brain when we feel intense emotion (happiness, stress, sadness, etc.). I found the chemical Serotonin very interesting, as it affects every part of our body and is responsible for many of the important functions that get us through the day, while also helping a good deal in treating depression.
I thought the visual of the iridescent brain represents well the multitude of emotions one experiences in the extreme states of feeling (during an adrenaline rush for example), while the different elements that surround the head abstractly probe at the flow chart of serotonin.
To accomplish this work, I first downloaded an already modelled human brain and introduced it into a human head, generated with the KeenTools FaceBuilder add-on. Next, I turned it into a fluid (using the Physics features) which explodes. I chose to make the head somewhat transparent in order to emphasize the transparency of emotions in the face of intense mood swings.
