Stargazing Duo
I’ve always enjoyed looking up at the sky and observing stars, trying to guess how the beautiful light specs might connect to form constellations. Ever since I was very young, everytime I went to my grandmother’s house, I would practise stargazing with my dad and we would spend hours studying the night sky. This routine is one I am very fond of and I wanted to emphasise this through my render. Because of my fascination for the sky, I guess I’ve always wanted to be able to see our planet from the outside, from the Milky Way and observe everything that surrounds Earth. “Stargazing duo” is a literal visual representation of the term “stargazing”, taken to the extreme, the 2 subjects resting on Earth in order to look out at the universe.

My first step when creating this was to use Daz Studio to model and export my duo into an OBJ file that I could then import into Blender. From there, I created the environment, using one of CG Geek’s tutorials on YouTube to guide myself into creating Earth and the nebula that surrounds it. Afterwards, I added some finishing touches like the stars seen in the background, which I created with the help of a particle system.
• Software used: Blender, 3D render in Eevee
• Techniques applied: used a principled volume material node and some colourful lights in order to create the nebula, played with lighting, materials and particle systems to create the overall environment
